Showroom Opening

Three generations of an Inverness business family were praised by former Scotland football manager Craig Brown when he opened the £300,000 extension to their Inverness HQ.

Alastair Dowling, his son David, the present managing director, and David's sons Chris and Scott, directors of the company heard Mr Brown, who had opened their HQ 14 years ago, tell an invited business audience that "Cairngorm are an excellent example of a Highland family business which has moved with the times and enjoyed major growth on the back of commitment to quality."

The firm was born 61 years ago in Wells Street, Inverness, and now has a £10 million turnover. David Dowling said:"My grandfather started the business as Inverness Glass, making car windscreens, which were flat in those days. We've retained our family approach, which gives assurance to our clients, while investing in the latest technology and putting an emphasis on being innovative.

"Diversification into solar and photovoltaic panels has been a major success in recent years while the new extension allows us to launch a fitted kitchen business, headed up by local football personality Graeme Bennett, as well as a huge new range of doors."
